Oil production is an important resource with potential export value and deserves therefore improved insights in women’s productions methods, as well as the effects that certain social conditions and cultural practices can have on production and administrative procedures and the ways in which revenue can be generated. The ongoing research study on gender issues in a West African setting, carried out by anthropologists Adele Davis Boe, Access the Energy, under the auspices of the Project ‘QualiTree’, is centered on these very questions.
